TRANS AM BIKE NONSTOP
CHECK POINT EDITION
ASTORIA, OREGON, USA
THE 1ST OF JUNE AT 6 AM
Presenting the 2025 Trans Am Bike Nonstop Check Point Edition by Ride Yr Bike LLC
We're proud to announce for the newly created Trans Am Bike Nonstop Check Point Edition celebrating the 11th anniversary of Ride Yr Bike events! A hybrid version of the paved Trans Am Bike Race and mixed terrain Bike Nonstop US. Featuring a mass start June 1st, 2025 in Astoria, Oregon, riders have a myriad of options to choose for their nonstop route across the US. Ultimately riders will head toward their destination in the classic Trans America finish of Yorktown, Virginia or the modern Bike Nonstop US finish in Washington D.C. We'll tell you that the route to D.C. is quicker despite the varying road surface. We'll also tell you the route to D.C. is designed for bikes from years of scouting and rider feedback, the Trans Am is largely unchanged in nearly 50 years.
For 2025 we are officially a Check Point event. There are 3 virtual unmanned Check Points, CP1, CP2 and your choice for CP3. All riders must pass through these three Check Points for their finish to be recorded.
- Mitchell, Oregon (Home of the Spoke'n Hostel)
- Moran, Wyoming (The coldest place in the continental US)
- 1 of the 5 Mississippi River Bridge Check Points (The Primary River of the US)
- Great River Bridge - Burlington, Iowa
- Keokuk-Hamilton Bridge - Keokuk, Iowa
- Mark Twain Memorial Bridge - Hannibal, Missouri
- Clark Bridge - Alton, Illinois
- Chester Bridge - Chester, Illinois
Can riders still ride the classic "Trans Am Bike Race"? Yes, but we ask all riders to consider why the event director has changed the format before doggedly pursuing a race on roads that are heavily trafficked. This is a very personal plea from myself, the event creator and director, Nathan Jones asking you to consider embracing this new format. I understand respecting tradition and wanting to pursue the same routes as our heroes. That said, I have to formally ask for respect as the director of this event. I am asking you to really take to heart these changes and embrace something new. I understand fully what the classic Trans Am Bike Race means to people, but I often feel like many people never understand my perspective on all of this. While I do not fault anyone for their perception of this event, I am insistent upon everyone challenging their perspective. For my mental health, I thank you for understanding.
Self supported means do it yourself: This is 100% self supported event, riders are exclusively on their own and encouraged to use only equally available resources for the duration of the event. This is not a snack caching, hitchhiking party, it's meant to be a personal endeavor. We'd also like to reinforce that no one is the arbitrator of this event. No one is controlling where riders ultimately ride, for how long, or where they stop. This is a group of individuals who have shared tracking mechanisms and the integrity of the entire ride exists mostly through satellite signals to space. We'll say it until we are blue in the face, it's just a bike ride and It's not really up to anyone else to judge another's bike ride. Finally, we reiterate that there is no complaining about the rules, we value human life more than finishing times and arguing about other riders amidst the considerable risks detracts from the overall fun factor.
Finish results will be posted for the new Check Point format as well as the classic TABR/Bike Nonstop US format. You can see the 2024 results as an example. Please note the TRANS AM BIKENONSTOP OVERALL COMBINED result will be displayed on top for 2025, for 2024 it is listed under the individual Yorktown/D.C. finishes.
